Firm history

The founding members Of the firm to practice together in 1994 under the law firm known as Cohen Vacanti Higgins Shattuck. Attorneys, Christopher Vacanti, and Kelly Shattuck formed a new firm known as Vacanti Shattuck in 2009. In 2014, Attorney. William Finocchiaro, joined the firm and in 2024. and together With Vacanti and Shattuck have formed the new firm now known as Vacanti Shattuck I Finocchiaro.

Our exclusive focus on family law

Experience and depth of knowledge make a world of difference in the quality of service a lawyer is able to provide to a client going through a divorce or custody proceedings. Since 1994, our attorneys have focused exclusively on family law. Limiting our practice in this way allows us to provide our clients the most effective representation. Our practice involves issues related to divorce, including alimony, child support, and custody.

Vacanti | Shattuck | Finocchiaro Attorneys is currently recognized by Best Lawyers as one of the Best Law Firms in Nebraska in the area of Family Law.  Christopher Vacanti has been recognized by Best Lawyers as one of the Best Lawyers in Nebraska in the area of Family Law each year since 2012 and by Super Lawyers as one of the best lawyers in Nebraska since 2013.  William Finocchiaro has been recognized by Best Lawyers as one of the Rising Stars in Nebraska in the area of Family Law since 2021. Our attorneys are active in the Nebraska State Bar Association and the Family Law Section of the Bar Association. Christopher Vacanti was chair of the Family Law section in 2007 and 2008 and Kelly Shattuck was an executive member of the family Law section in 2005 and 2006. William Finocchiaro is currently a member of the Nebraska State Bar Executive Committee for Family Law.  Vacanti and Shattuck have served as presenters in family law workshops for members of Nebraska’s legal community. Members of the firm have been regular guests on Omaha radio and television programs, including the Todd N Tyler Morning Show on Z92.

Serving mothers, fathers, husbands, and wives

Our clients include mothers, fathers, husbands, wives, parents who have never been married, married persons seeking divorce and couples preparing for marriage. Since our firm’s early years, our attorneys have been strong advocates for the rights of parents and children and were instrumental in resolving traditional inequities in family law. As a result, they became known to many as the Nebraska father’s rights lawyers.
